The Richmond Braves were Atlanta's AAA Minor League club from 1966 through 2008, and is arguably the most legendary of all Braves MiLB organizations. Virtually every Atlanta Braves home-grown player who came up through their system spent time in Richmond, including Steve Avery, Brett Butler, Darrell Evans, Ron Gant, Ralph Garr, Tom Glavine, Jason Heyward, Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones, David Justice, Ryan Klesko, Mark Lemke, Dale Murphy, Deion Sanders, John Smoltz and even a young Bobby Cox.
Game used items from Richmond don't appear all too often, and a quick eBay search reveals that this jersey is the only Richmond Braves game worn jersey available on eBay as of this listing! This shirt dates to the early 2000's era, with the American Flag patch on the sleeve dating to 2002 through 2004. The jersey shows heavy game use, though the Nylon fabric has held up remarkably as usual! Manufactured by Wilson, their manufacturer's tags are featured in the tail and neckline. Tagged as a size 46, it measures approx. 24 inches across from pit to pit, then tapers slightly to approx. 22 inches across at the stomach. The length is approx. 29 inches from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the front tail.
All letters, numbers and graphics are sewn onto the jersey, and the colors remain deep and vibrant. There are no rips, holes or tears on the shirt, other than the outline of where the back player nameplate was removed. The American Flag patch is original as issued on the left sleeve, with Richmond opting to place the patch there instead of the typical rear neckline.
