Dickerson was drafted in the 2000 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees, but he opted to go to college. The Cincinnati Reds drafted him in the 2003 MLB Draft. He made is MLB debut on August 12, 2008 and hit his first home run three days later against the St. Louis Cardinals. In August 2009, Dickerson was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers for Jim Edmonds.
