Vintage Baseball Uniform. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. This uniform (jersey and pants) were made by Powers Athletic Wear out of Waterloo, Iowa. Powers has been in business since 1902 and is still outfitting teams today. It is a heavy flannel/wool with the jersey being a zipper front. From my research, zipper jerseys were popular from the 1940's to 1970's, with diminishing popularity in that time. The zipper on the jersey does not work but I feel that it is probably original and did not replace it. The jersey is a size 42 and the pants are a size 34 waist. The uniform is a cream colored flannel. I'm not sure if it was always this color or if it turned this color from much use, wear and/or improper storage.
All letters and numbers are embroidered on. In the front, "Owls" is embroidered across the chest and "18" is embroidered on the back. There is a blue ink like stain in the front of the jersey about 4 inches below the "W" in Owls. There is also a smaller, fainter ink like stain on the left shoulder.
There are other stains but these appear to be consistent with wear. It appears from the lettering and numbers that this uniform was laundered many times. As you can see in the pictures, there are wrinkles/puckering in the letters and numbers.
The owl mascot on the left sleeve is very similar to the Foothill College Owls mascot in the 1960's and 1970's. Foothill College is a community college in Los Altos Hills, California. They had a baseball team beginning in the late 1960's from my research. This uniform could possibly be from that college.
Black belt pictured in photos is NOT included in lot.
